bozeman vs. missoula
Hi, I am currently in the military stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. My husband recently separated from the Marines and we are looking at moving to Montana when I get out in August. We are flying out there in June for the Montana Firefighters Testing Consortium, and from there will try to decide whether we want to relocate to Bozeman, Missoula, or somewhere different. Those two are currently the most attractive to us being that I still want to finish my Bachelor's degree at either Montana State University or University of Montana. Any insight on the fire departments in either town or their respective universities? Thanks!
I really like Bozeman more because it's just a nicer place. BUT Missoula is much more affordable. The weather there is just much greyer and smokier...
I think there are more forestry type jobs in Missoula too. Unless you have a bunch of money saved, probably Missoula is better. But I still like Boze more to actually live.
Good luck on your move and in your life!

Which to pick may be dependent on your academic interest. The 2 universities have different programs and strengths. If you want to get an advanced degree in Forestry or Pharmacy, it's Missoula. If you want Engineering or Physics, it's Bozeman. Missoula is a little warmer in the winter, but with a little less sun. Bozeman has access to somewhat better skiing. If you don't shave your legs, Missoula. If you're a charter member of the NRA, Bozeman may be more comfortable.

That's ridiculous, what the pp said. Bozeman is not NRA land, in fact there's alot of really open minded hippies here, too they just aren't as silly and out there like the missoula crowd. Bozeman has a lovely small town feel. Missoula is not like that, more pacific northwest. And a little more sun, that's ridiculous. Bozeman has about twice as much sunny days as missoula in the winter!
